She was infamously booted off My Kitchen Rules in April alongside teammate Hadil Faiza for ‘bullying’ and ‘threatening’  the other contestants.

And this week, Sonya Mefaddi sensationally claimed that the pair – who were billed as ‘Jordanian BFFs’ on the show – were ‘never best friends’.

The 34 year-old fashion entrepreneur admitted during a Q&A with her Instagram followers on Thursday that she has even tried to ‘distance herself’ from Hadil in recent months.

‘We are in fact family friends. I have never cooked with her prior to the show and I have learned a lot about Hadil while filming.’

Sonya also confirmed she has not been in contact with her former teammate.

‘I decided to distance myself from Hadil after the show,’ she added, ‘Simply put and in short, I felt her energy wasn’t a positive one to have in my life.’

Sonya and Hadil were notably absent from the MKR finale in April, following their removal from the series in the aftermath of a dinner table fight with rivals Jess Alvial and Emma Byron.

Tensions reached fever pitch when the two women made repeated unkind remarks about Jess and Emma’s appearance before screaming at the other contestants and calling them ‘disrespectful a**holes’.

Judge Manu Feildel was forced to step in, saying: ‘Enough! Things have got too out of hand, this is a cooking competition, and this behaviour is unacceptable. Sonya and Hadil, you are excused from the table!’
